Den Kopf hängen lassen wenn’s mal nicht so klappt ist nicht wirklich Nitzan Horeshs Ding. Aus dem Plan ein Solo-Album zu produzieren entsteht am Ende die Band Cut Out Club und ihr gleichnamiges Debütalbum, das mit Langeweile nichts am Hut hat. Mit ins Boot holte er sich sieben weitere kreative Köpfe, mit denen er die Musikszene im israelischen Tel-Aviv ein bisschen aufmischt.

So wie die bisherige Vita der Bandmitglieder klingen auch die Songs ihres Albums „Cut Out Club“. Einige von ihnen spielten zuvor unter anderem bei der Punkband Useless ID, der Garage-Skandalkombo Monotonix und der Rockband The Meatballs. Wirft man alles in einen Topf, entsteht eine geile Mischung aus Rock’n’Roll, New Wave und einer Spur late 70’s/early 80’s Sound à la David Bowie. Im Studio stellte Horesh schnell fest, dass seine Idee nicht für ein Solo-Projekt geeignet ist: „Entering the studio, and starting working on the songs, I soon realized that they „demanded“ a full band to work on them. “
Große Bands funktionieren nicht, könnte man meinen, aber bei Cut Out Club hat genau das das Feuer entfacht: “I invited them all to the studio to listen to my sketches and start adding layers should they be interested. This experience was eye opening. During that process we became friends and decided to put it all together as a real band.”

Mit Funk-Bass, Synthie-Sound und Rock-Gitarre sorgen die acht für viel Tanzfreude im Publikum. Der wilde Haufen wirft dabei mit unterschiedlichen Songs um sich und lässt dabei ernste Themen außen vor. Bei seinen Texten überlässt es Sänger Horesh lieber seinen Hörer_innen, wie sie diese auffassen wollen. „I usually don’t like to explain the meaning of songs. I think it damages the magic that I see in a pop song.”

Ihr Sound ist wild und bunt. Songs wie „Out of My World“, „Tears Like a Storm“ und „Colorized“ bleiben im Kopf und machen Bock auf Sommer, Bier und Festivals. Bei „We Are the Ghosts“ möchte man mitschwanken und am liebsten selber irgendein Instrument in die Hand nehmen und zur Crew gehören. Und wenn Horesh einen Song wählen würde, der ihn besonders mitreißt und der ihm am Herzen liegt, dann wäre es “New Confrontation”, verrät er uns (siehe u.a. Interview). „The words still sound mysterious and dramatic to me, and although I know what I was writing about at the time, I always find a new personal interpretation while singing the song now.”
Für noch mehr Aufmerksamkeit sorgten die Live Auftritte der Band, die schon so mancher als „furios“ beschrieben hat, da sie gerne mal auf der Bühne eskalieren. Interview mit Nitzan Horesh von Cut Out Club

Bevor die Tour startet hat uns die Band per Mail ein paar Fragen beantwortet.
How come that the solo-project of Nitzan Horesh turned out to a big-band project?
Entering the studio, and starting working on the songs, I soon realized that they „demanded“ a full band to work on them. For example, I thought that certain songs should be sung by a female voice. So it quickly became clear, that this wasn’t going to end up being the solo project I had thought of in the first place.
Who is the creative head in your band regarding your lyrics?
I usually come up with a general idea for the song’s lyrics. Often finding a „hook“ while composing, and then continue working on that with a fellow musician. On Cut Out Club’s first album this was Allan Moon. I guess I am a team player in that sense as well.
How did you guys meet and decide to work together?
I called up some musicians I knew and tried my luck with some other musicians which I didn’t know personally but highly appreciated. I invited them all to the studio to listen to my sketches and start adding layers should they be interested. This experience was eye opening. Is there one song that means something special to you/all of you or one song you want to express something special?
